I chose a secondary school specialising in languages to learn how to communicate with the world, and then sociology at university to try to understand it. Today, I speak Italian and English at native level and am fluent in Spanish and French. I continue to search for words that can convey the complexity of human experience.
People have called me Martathehammer since I first learned to speak – perhaps because I have never stopped.
