ConsulTIAMOci is a social media series launched in 2023 to tell the stories of Milan’s accredited private, secular family planning and counselling centres. Although these centres are meant to provide full access to all services relating to reproductive rights, the series emerged in response to the situation in Lombardy, where more than half of the region’s centres have a Catholic affiliation and 54% of gynaecologists are conscientious objectors.
The project consists of short Instagram videos exploring these spaces of care and self-determination. It has two aims: first, to offer a practical resource for discovering and navigating the services available locally – services many people do not even know exist, despite potentially needing them at some point in their lives; and second, to raise awareness of the political and social importance of these spaces as vital points of access to rights, health and freedom.
