ConsulTIAMOci is a social media series launched in 2023 to tell the stories of Milan’s accredited, secular private family planning and counselling centres. Although these centres are meant to provide full access to all services relating to reproductive rights, the series emerged in response to the situation in Lombardy, where more than half of the region’s centres have a Catholic affiliation and 54% of gynaecologists are conscientious objectors to abortion provision. Through short Instagram videos, the series explores these spaces of care and self-determination. It offers a practical guide to local services that many people may not know about, despite potentially needing them at some point in their lives. It also draws attention to the political and social importance of these centres in supporting people’s rights, health and freedom.
